The first step to this exciting new hobby is to get yourself a set of lock picks which can be brought very cheaply from Amazon or EBay. However if you can afford to spend a few extra pounds you can buy decent sets from sites online in the UK who specialise in lock picking tools. I would recommend The Valyrian Set from www.lawlocktools.co.uk the direct link is https://www.lawlocktools.co.uk/Lock-Picking-Sets?product_id=100

When you first start lock picking you must be extremely patient and remember after watching all those YouTube videos that those guys have been picking locks for many years and make it look very easy, they can pick locks within seconds so please do not think you will doing this after a few weeks or even months. Keep practicing, be patient and eventually you will be popping locks open. Practice, Practice and more Practice is the only way you will become any good at this sport.
Finding the binding order is one of the first steps. Applying tension to the plug will force the pins to bind, making them hard to move. Manipulating those binding pins will put you on the right path to finding the sheer line of the lock, allowing you to turn the plug completely and open the lock.
If the pins don’t set or keep dropping, it’s likely you need to re-adjust the amount of pressure that you are applying to your tension wrench. With lots of practice you will get the feel for exactly how much pressure to apply.

As you push the binding pin, You will feel when the Binding Pin is picked as the plug jolts slightly when it comes to the shear line, you’ll feel it set one way or another and you can then move onto the next binding pin. Once you’ve set that first pin, you can hold the tension at the same amount, or increase slightly as you set each one if necessary.
In many common locks, pins will set either front-to-back or back-to-front. However, keep in mind that this is not always the case.Lifting a pin slowly will allow it to set more easily. Applying too much torque to your tension wrench at any point could cause the lock to freeze. In this case, you'll likely have to relieve pressure on the wrench to reset the pins and start again.
When the last pin sets, the lock should fully disengage and open. You may have to apply more pressure with your tension wrench to turn the lock open.

Try to get hold of and disassemble as many locks as possible. By actually seeing the inner workings of a lock you will get a better understanding of what is actually happening when you unlock/pick a lock. Not only will you have a great visualisation in your mind when picking but by actually taking apart locks you can often discover methods of attack and bypass techniques that will or will not work.

This has been done professionally and would be used at locksmith training schools, but if you have the correct tools you could do it yourself.
